Mt. Zion Baptist Church was founded in 1869 by and through God’s sovereign grace. Today, 154 years later, its faithfulness to Christ and His mission still continues.
We believe the local church is to be a foreign embassy on the earth announcing and promoting Christ’s claim upon all people by declaring the glorious gospel of salvation in word and deed.
A healthy, loving, and thriving church is not one where everyone agrees on everything but rather where everyone agrees to the same mission and answers the same call.
Our MOTTO, in essentials agreement, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things charity allows for great diversity where we cherish and respect the priesthood of every believer.
Our MISSION, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” calls us to singularity of focus and purpose.
And what is our end goal? Well, we find that in Revelation 7:9-10. After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
These 3 things not only define who we are, they also give clarity regarding our cooperative work with others. Mt Zion cooperates locally with the South Fork Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, as well as nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention and its various entities.
